My favorite site for business reviews in general and specifically restaurant reviews is Yelp. I have found the reviewers to be for the most part intelligent, knowledgeable, on point and often funny. In full disclosure I have to admit and am an avid “Yelper”, and I write reviews quite frequently myself. I have been to some official and un-official yelp events and met some of my fellow reviewers and made some new friends.
I was recently in a city where I was unfamiliar with most of the restaurants and wanted to try a new restaurant that looked good and their menu sounded great. I ate at the restaurant and was less than impressed. Had I read the Yelp reviews beforehand, I would have seen some less than stellar reviews for this place and avoided it. I should know better! Anyway, I will continue to rely on Yelp to lead me towards business with excellent food, value and service and steer clear of those establishments that fall short in these areas. I will also continue to be a reviewer and hopefully provide valuable insight to others on area businesses.
