Volunteering

I believe it is important to offer some of your personal time doing community service volunteer work. It doesn’t have to be an extensive amount of time. Most of us are very busy people and cannot commit a tremendous amount of volunteer time.

I have a proud history of volunteering from my college days at Elon University to my service with the Raleigh Jaycees and my current work with Durham Cares. I currently spend a few hours a month at the Ronald McDonald House in Durham, working on cleaning up their computers, scanning for viruses and setting up new computers and connections. It is a very fun and rewarding assignment and even though I am only volunteering a few hours a month, I feel my time there is helping them out.

Paying jobs are great, but so is doing work, just for the betterment of your community. Both you and the organizations you volunteer for will benefit greatly!
