What we can all learn from Tim Tebow

What we can all learn from Tim Tebow

There has been a lot said of Tim Tebow. Probably too much. He cannot win at starting quarterback for the Denver Broncos. He is too slow, doesn’t have a strong enough arm, isn’t accurate enough etc.

All of these things about his limitations as a QB are mostly true and there are no guarantees that he will even be a starting QB next year for the Broncos or anywhere else.

Here is what we do know about Tebow. He is a winner who always thinks positive, doesn’t get too down on himself when things are bad, and is a great team player. He also has a super work ethic. He may not be the most talented, but he always gives 110% effort and doesn’t make excuses. I can name a dozen QB’s who are simply better, but that is not the point. Maximizing your abilities, and constantly striving to improve is what T.T is all about.

I got tired of hearing all about the Tebow hype as everyone else. His constant mentioning of Jesus and “Tebowing” when he scores a touch-down can be a bit annoying, but hey. He has strong christian beliefs and it gives him strength. Nothing wrong with that!

In the corporate world, wouldn’t you like to work with someone like him. Someone who is always upbeat, positive, doesn’t complain and has a great work ethic?

In the corporate world, as a worker, this is what I strive for. I may not be the most talented, but my work ethic is second to none. I am always positive, upbeat, and a team player. It is the best way to be and not only uplifts yourself, but others around you as well.

Bye Bye 2011, Hello 2012

Bye Bye 2011, Hello 2010?

Many people this time of the year, start reflecting on the year gone by and also look towards the future to see what the next year will bring. I don’t think I am alone in hoping that 2012 will be better than 2011.

2011 wasn’t a very good year for me. I really wasn’t satisfied either personally or professionally. I made a lot of mistakes in 2011 that I would just as soon forget, and I don’t think I even achieve one of my New Year’s resolutions.

I am not sure that 2012 will be better, but I am a positive person. I know what light comes after night is at it’s darkest point and I believe that 2011 represents my darkest point. 2012 will bring light and hope and for that I say raise a toast. A toast to 2012 and beyond!

Do you have Klout?

Do You have Klout?

I was watching CNN this morning and they were discussing Klout, a service which measures your influence online and assigns you a score of 1-100. My score is currently 29. Not terrible but then again, I am no Justin Bieber who has a Klout score of 100. It

Volunteering

I believe it is important to offer some of your personal time doing community service volunteer work. It doesn’t have to be an extensive amount of time. Most of us are very busy people and cannot commit a tremendous amount of volunteer time.

I have a proud history of volunteering from my college days at Elon University to my service with the Raleigh Jaycees and my current work with Durham Cares. I currently spend a few hours a month at the Ronald McDonald House in Durham, working on cleaning up their computers, scanning for viruses and setting up new computers and connections. It is a very fun and rewarding assignment and even though I am only volunteering a few hours a month, I feel my time there is helping them out.

Paying jobs are great, but so is doing work, just for the betterment of your community. Both you and the organizations you volunteer for will benefit greatly!
